Review: ELF Mineral Eyeliner in Black

I purchased this not long ago, along with a few other bits when ELF added new items to Studio Line. When buying an eyeliner, I want it to last all day long, I don't want it to budge or smudge. For £3.00 I was willing to lower my expectations a little with this one though. However I have bought a lot of ELF Products in the past and have always been impressed and thought they were excellent value for money.

What ELF say: "Create definition that's soft, natural and brilliant. The natural based formula provides gentle coverage for even the most sensitive eyes. The twist up applicator is easy for instant use, no sharpening required. 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes".


What Jo says: Well the first thing I was pleased about was the twist up applicator. No need for sharpening, which is always a bonus in my book. The texture of it is very soft and easy to apply, it doesn't drag on my lids which I have found with a few other brands in the past. It glides on nice and smoothly, on my top and bottom waterlines. I also found it to be easily blendable for creating the smokey eye look. So how does it fair up after a few hours of wear? Well I normally go for the smokey eye look, so I smudge my eyeliner a bit anyway, but I wanted to test this properly the first time I used it and I have to admit after a fair few hours it had smudged a little under my eyes. Now for me this really isn't a problem as most of the time when I am wearing eyeliner, it is teamed with smokey eyes. I wouldn't recommend it if you want nice precise all day long (8 hour wear) staying power though, and a more natural look to your eyes, as you will find that after a few hours of wear it will smudge. However please remember these are just my opinions though, what doesn't work for me, could work well for the next person.

Overall opinion: cheap, nice packaging, perfect for creating the smokey eye look.
