Any recommendations for a good Nail Polish Remover?

Hi Ladies

Have any of you got any recommendations for a good Nail Polish Remover? Im currently using Superdrugs own and well... I hate it.  It basically does a crap job of removing my polish, plus it stains all my nails and fingers! I'm not a happy bunny :( I used a really good one at my boyfriends house at weekend (no he doesn't wear nail polish haha .. his sister does :P) so I know there's good ones out there ha, so I'm hoping some of you ladies will be able to recommend one please :D

Thanks..

A small ELF haul..

Just thought I’d share the few things I purchased from ELF over the weekend.

I got:

Nail Polish in Chocolate - I worn this yesterday and I really like it. Its a really dark brown as the name suggests ha. I needed a few coats though.. but for £1.50 I was expecting that anyway.

Concealer Brush – Not really pleased with this. Its too hard and stiff for my liking, plus really small.

Eye shadow Brush – Not tried this out yet.

Blush & Bronzing powder – I was really hoping to like this.. but sadly I don’t :( The bronzer is just way too dark for me. Its also a lot darker than the picture on the website. I guess in a way its good that its so pigmented, but you need to have a very light hand to use it and a little really does go a long way ha. I think I’ll just be sticking to my normal bronzer. The blush on the other hand, I like. Its a really pretty colour and when using the right amount, can create a really natural look. So thumbs up for the Blush, but a thumbs down for the bronzer sadly.

My nails are finally at a good enough length to be painted... yay!!!  So thought I'd post my first NOTD hehe. The polish is Barbara Daly in Moulin.. and I love it!!! My shitty camera really doesn't do it justice though sadly :( Its a really deep red, perfect for this time of year I think.

Ever found love for something second time around??

Hey Ladies...

I don't normally make much of an effort on a Sunday with my make up.. Sundays are lazy days right? :P so I thought I'd play around a bit today and give some stuff I'd dismissed first time around a second try.

A while back I posted a review of Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion foundation, and well basically I hated it haha. Tried it once, didn't like it, so put it away and didn't touch it again... until today! Yep... I grabbed it from the hole I stuck it in ha, put it on today and fell in love with it!!! Well what went wrong the first time around you're probably thinking, and well... god knows haha. My skins been looking really good lately since I changed my moisturiser, so maybe seen as my skins looking better and Im not needing as much coverage, could be the reason why its working for me now. I also applied it with a brush today though where as the first time I tried it, I applied it with the little sponge applicator that it came with. It applies sooooo much better with a brush, I achieved a really natural looking flawless finish. I really did love the finish it gave me. Its really easy to touch up during the day too, without giving that cakey mask look which a few foundations do with a second coat. So overall.. I'm quite pleased with my little self for giving it another try :)

Have any of you ladies ever grown to love a product you dismissed and hated first time around?

Review on Boots No.7 Hydro Quench Sauna Mask.

Hey Ladies...

Thought I'd give a quick review on one of my favourite face masks, which is Boots No.7 Hydro Quench Sauna Mask. I use a face mask at least once a week, and this is by far the best one I have ever used!

The mask is a thermal mask that heats on contact with water.  The heat helps to open up pores and gives a really deep down cleanse. The heat also helps to dry up the oil in the skin which we all know can lead to the dreaded spots!. It suits most skin types aswell as it's hypo-allergenic and fragrance free so it will not irritate your skin.

As the mask is a self heating mask, its best when applied to dry skin. Once applied to skin it begins to immediately heat up.. it continues to feel warm on the face for about 2-3 minutes and gives a really nice relaxing feeling, then it begins to cool down. I normally leave mine on for about 5 -10 minutes, then wash it off using warm water and a warm flannel. I love applying this mask and I love the after effects it has on my skin. Immediately after washing it off.. my skin appears so soft and feel so cleansed like its just had an intense moisture surge. It is kinda pricey, think it was between £9-£10 but the tube is not small so it does last quite a while and in my eyes its a small price to pay for the results it gives me.

Give it a try ladies I doubt you'll be disspointed!!! Well I hope not anyway.. haha.

Whats in my bag....

I love reading these kind of posts.. love being nosey :P, so thought I'd do one myself hehe.

First off the bag...

Photobucket

Its just a plane black slouch bag, quite big.. just how I like them. This is my bargain bag as I like to call it. I spotted it a few weeks ago while shopping in Tesco. It was priced at £10 so I thought hmmm.. thats a good price, Im having one of those! When I got to the till though, it went through for £2.50! haha. No idea why as it wasn't in the sale section and had no sale ticket on it, I was well chuffed :D. Oh how I love a bargain!!!!!

Next the junk thats in the bag! Since this bags fairly new.. Ive not had chance to accumulate loads of junk yet haha, my bags are normally full of tissue, dummys, bips, letters.. everything really. No doubt in a few weeks.. it'll be like a dumping tip ha.

Anyway so whats in it...

Photobucket

1. My make up bag.
2. Umbrella. Not that I walk often, Im always in my car.. but you never know :P
3. My DKNY purse (my fave purse)
4. My keys with various pictures of me and my friends, plus one of Anton when he was a baby.
5. Baby Wipes. Always carry these around. Never know when you might need them!
6. My notebook and pen. Always have this in my bag, like to write everything down as I have a memory like a goldfish :( haha.

So yeah.. thats it really. No junk at all! hehe.. quite proud of myself. Might aswell show you whats inside my make up bag while Im at it. I don't carry a lot around with me. Just the necessities that I might need during the day. I have the same items in my make up storage at home, so that I don't have to grab them before I leave the house. So yeah I have 2 of most things. Doesn't every woman though?? :P

My make up bags just a small brown Revlon bag and inside theres...

Photobucket

1. A small tin of Nivea cream. Mainly put this on my hands as well as my hand cream, whichever one I get first really.
2. A trail size of Thierry Mugler Angel Perfume.
3. My beloved Touche Eclat, just incacse I need a touch up.
4. Some Nivea lip cream
5. GOSH Darling Lipstick. My fave nude. LOVE IT!
6. My hand cream.
7.Some Bepanthem nappy rash cream ha. No idea why thats in there really, just incase Harvey happens to get a sore bum I suppose.
8. My No.7 eyeliner.

So there you have the contents of my bag and my make up bag. What do you ladies carry around in your bag and make up bag?

I'm having a rant!

Well first off, my camera broke :( so that's really pissed me off. I wanted to do loads of blogging over the past few days but I'm lost without my camera. Secondly, Im having a new kitchen and bathroom fitted, starting from today.. and its hell already and the workmen have only been in half hour haha. Ive had to move everything from the kitchen into boxes into the dining room and now I can't find anything, I swear I was looking for the iron for about an hour this morning, which then made me late for getting Anton to school. I'm going to be left with a sink and a cooker, no cupboards, no worktops etc for a few days which is going to be a nightmare. They're ripping out today, then tomorrow the electrics are all being done, then the next day the plasterer, then the tiling and decorating then following all that.. the new cupboards and worktops etc. Its going to be a nightmare especially with a 10 month old baby :(

I'm going to try and get hold of a camera today to post some pictures, if not.. expect more ranting from me over the next couple of days haha.

Small Haul...

Hello Ladies...

Well over the weekend I bought a few small things, so thought I'd show you what I got and seen as Ive had time to test most items out.. Ill give a quick review too. I popped into Boots on Friday as I wanted to pick up the much talked about No.7 Extravagant Lashes Mascara. Ive read quite a few reviews on this, some good.. some bad. I also liked the look of the free Smokey Eye Palette too. Whiles there I also picked up some Max Factor Second Skin Foundation. You'd think I would have learnt my lesson after the last Max Factor foundation I got and hated.. but no not me.. can't resist trying something that promising flawless skin. On Saturday I did a bit of Grocery Shopping in Tesco and picked up a couple of Items from the Barbara Daley for Tesco cosmetics range, which was a concealer and an eyeshadow.

Photobucket

Extravagant Lashes Mascara & Smokey eye Palette:

As Ive had a few No.7 mascaras in the past and always been happy with the results, so seen as I had my last voucher for £5 off No.7 products, I thought I'd get their latest mascara and give it a try. The brush is unlike any other mascara brush in that its square. It features a combination of bristles with unique square shaped discs that are designed and supposed to reach the very base of your lashes,  helping to separate the lashes and lift each one to deliver extravagant volume and curl.

Photobucket

The Application:  I applied the mascara like I do with any of my mascaras and found it it to be horrible :( the brush is just too big and don-king and it just clumped all my lashes and gave me no curl or volume at all. Ive since found out though, that there's a special technique in applying the mascara, which is: (taken from Boots website)

1) Ensure your lashes are clean and dry before you start.
2) To get great mascara coverage, load the brush by twisting it in the barrel rather than using a pumping action.
3) Hold the corner of the square discs along your lashline to get right to the base of your lashes. Sweep the brush upwards, turning it slightly as you go for beautiful definition and curl.
4) Looking down, hold the wand at the base of your lashes in the same way as before and sweep the brush from root to tip along the top of your lashes to ensure even coverage.
5) For hard to reach bottom lashes, hold the corner of the square discs along your lash line and wave the brush across your lashes for a beautifully defined look.
6) Use the edge of the wand to tease the ends of your lashes to add that little bit more volume and ensure the very best finish.
7) Allow two to three minutes for your mascara to dry.

So tomorrow and going to give the mascara a second shot, apply it as it is advised and hope for the best haha.

Smokey eye Palette:

I LOVE this. The shadows are really pigmented and have a really nice shimmer to them. I played around with this on Saturday night and created a nice purple smokey eye.

Swatches:

Max Factor Second Skin Foundation - This Foundation claims to have an innovative formula that creates the look of naturally perfect looking skin. “From the catwalks to magazines, gorgeous make-up starts with perfected but real-looking skin - skin that looks fresh without looking made-up. What sets Max Factor’s Second Skin apart is the unique technology behind it. It actually works in synergy with your skin, looking and feeling like perfect, real skin.  Reading that.. who wouldn't want to give it a try and see if it does what it claims to do!  It comes in 5 different shades which are:

■40 Creamy Ivory

■45 Warm Almond

■70 Natural

■75 Golden

■80 Bronze

Photobucket

My verdict:

The foundation is quite thin in texture but gives a great coverage. It blended perfectly into my skin and looks really natural. It feels nice on and it doesn't make my skin look oily or clog my pores. And I can say it actually did make my skin look flawless. Overall Im really really pleased with it.

Barbara Daly Concealer - Ive bought a few Barbara Daly products in the past and have been really pleased with them. However this was not the case with the concealer. I found it to be really really thick and hard to work with. It provides good coverage when on and does cover up well, but once it dries I found it to become dry and flaky :(

Photobucket

Barbara Daley Eyeshadow - Like previously mentioned Ive purchased a few items from the Barbara Daley range, a few of them being eye shadows and found them to be really good. No creasing, long lasting, good pigment etc and this one is no different. It has a slight shimmer to it, most of the ones I previously bought were Matte and its a really lovely colour.

Product rave!!!

While browsing in Asda the other day at the skin care Items, I noticed they had Clean and Clear Shine Control Daily Facial Moisturiser on special offer for £1.99. I don't suffer too bad with oily skin, but throughout the day I tend to shine a bit in my Tzone areas. So as this was on offer I thought I'd pick some up and try it out. I normally read a lot of reviews before I buy a products, but for £1.99 I wasn't going to lose anything if this didn't work for me and wasn't suitable. When I got home that night though, I decided to google and read a few reviews, and found that a lot of people were saying this products didn't work for them. Typical! Just my luck haha. I wasn't deterred though and thought what doesn't work for one person, might just work for another.

Photobucket

So the next morning, I applied the cream in my Tzone areas and applied my normal moisturiser everywhere else. Low and behold by the time 4pm came.. I was still matte looking and shine free!!!!! And that is rare for me, by this time I normally end up applying a bit of powder. I've been using this products daily now and for the price of it I'm soooo pleased with the results. I was so glad that I kept the thought in my head that "what doesn't work for one person might work for another", otherwise I never would have tried it. So yeah.. it didn't work for many people but it worked for me!!!!! hehe.

A bit of shopping and my boot sale bargains!!!!

First off I'm going to tell you about my little boot sale bargains. Every Tuesday I go to a market/bootsale just to have a nosey around really, but in the past Ive picked up some really good bargains. So yesterday I went and picked up another 2 little bargains hehe. First up I got an adorable little Clinique eyeshadow compact. It consists of 4 colours and a little mirror and cost me 50p!!!!! Un-used aswell. Next I picked up some Maybelline Satin Finish Foundation, Ive heard plenty of good things about this foundation and at only £1 I thought I'd be silly not to buy it. Sadly I came across no other bargains, oh except some MAC foundation for £5 but it wasn't my colour :( anyway here's some pics of my bargains...

Photobucket

Photobucket

After the market my friend dragged me into a hair care shop, which specialises in Afro Caribbean hair care products. When I walked in I noticed they had a lot of make up aswell, so me being me I headed straight over to take a look and to my surprise they were a stockist of Sleek. Ive been meaning to pick up the Storm Palette for ages now, but it always slips my mind.. so I picked that up while I was there.

Photobucket

Ive used it today and I absolutely love it!!!!! The colours are so rich and pigmented. They are easy to apply and really blendable too. I think I'll be heading back to that shop to pick up the other palettes. Might aswell eh.. hehe.

After that I decided to head to ALDI. I was reading a couple of days ago, how the Blusher in "Sunset" is really good value for money and is a dupe for Nars Orgasm, so I wanted to pick it up and give it a try. I applied it this morning and I was over the moon with the results. It really is a dupe for Orgasm. It comes in a cute little compact too, with a nice sized mirror, you get a brush too.. but doubt anyone ever uses them. If you ever stop by ALDI make sure you pop in and pick up this blusher, for £2.50 you wont be disappointed.

Things Im loving right now!!!!

Just a little post to rave about the products I've been loving this week.

Photobucket

N-spa FRUIT Vanilla Crème Brûlée Body Scrub: "A creamy blend of rich toffee and soft vanilla combine with the peaceful and harmonious shade of timeless white. Leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and fragranced with the cent of far-off lands". - This smells divine!!!! Every time I use it I just want to taste a bit haha. My skin is looking a lot healthier and is buffed and glowing. I also found that the scent lingered on my skin all day long aswell, in a nice subtle way though.

Photobucket

Barry M 3 in 1 Nail Paint: "NEW 3 in 1 Nail Paint .Basecoat Topcoat Nail Hardener Formulated to meet the needs of busy fingers, this Nail Paint is so versatile you will wonder how you managed without it. Leaves a High Shine Glossy Finish. Perfect for using with the Nail Paints to protect and look after your nails". - Well recently I decided to try grow my own nails. Normally I have really brittle nails and they seem to break really easy. So while shopping in Superdrug the other week I spotted this and thought I'd give it a try. It literally has done wonders for my nails, they have become really strong and are growing perfectly. The shine on them while using this is amazing too. For the price, Im really pleased with this product.

Photobucket

Illamasqua Lipstick in "Agony": I had been wanting this lipstick for a while and my gorgeous BF decided to treat me to it and I love it! Its really thick and creamy, the thickness of it did become a little bit of a problem, especially if my lips are a bit dry, but I found that with a little bit of lip balm underneath it looks perfect. It so long lasting aswell, I hardly ever need to apply another coat.

Photobucket

ELF Under eye Concealer and Highlighter: "Correct under eye problematic areas such as dark circles and bags easily and effectively! Contains vitamins A & E, chamomile, caffeine and green tea to moisturize, soothe, and tighten the skin around the delicate eye area. Blends in easily and evenly to provide a smooth and natural finish". - My normal eye concealer is Touche Eclat, Ive been using this for years now, but I like to apply another concealer underneath first then apply my Touch Eclat. Recently I have been using a Max Factor one, but Ive been hearing so many good reviews on ELF products, that I decided to have a nosey and bought the Under Eye Concealer and Im sooooo glad I did! I love this product. Not only does it cover my dark circles wonderfully, but after using it for a few days Ive noticed how firm my under eye area looks and feels. Im so impressed with this product and at only £3.50 its a bargain!!! The highlighter is also really good, I use it under my brow bone for a nice subtle highlight. Overall a fantastic cheap product.

They leave my skin feeling so soft afterwards and Ive noticed quite a different in the appearance of my skin, I look forward to using them every night ha.

Review on Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation.

Well as previously mentioned, the other day I purchased Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation. So thought I would give a quick review on the product.

I've never really been a fan of Max Factor foundation, but after hearing good things about it, I thought I would give it a try, as from time to time I like to try out different foundations. It promises to give the perfect look as stated "'Max Factor's newest and most innovative foundation will revolutionise the way you apply your base. With a unique lightweight solid to liquid formula it removes the need for the traditional concealer, foundation and powder combination and instead creates the perfect base in just one easy application. The result is a flawless, fresh and incredibly smooth complexion that glows with radiance'. Clever, breakthrough, skin-responsive technology. Transforms at a touch into a supple liquid that floats over your skin".

The packaging:

It comes in a small round pot with a glass lid and 2 compartments. The top part contains the foundation and the bottom part the applicator sponge. As the container is so small, and theres not a great lot of foundation, I can't imagine it lasting very long.

Shades available:

Creamy Ivory, Warm Almond, Blushing Beige, Natural Golden Bronze.

The Application:

As the foundation is liquid based, its very easy to apply and dries to a matte finish. Its easy blendable and it did feel pretty soft and silky when applied. However the coverage wasn't good enough to give me that airbrushed flawless look I was hoping for. I also found that the staying power wasn't that good either, after a few hours.. it had virtually disappeared.

Overall Verdict:

Sadly this foundation just didn't cut it for me. The coverage is just not good enough as I like full coverage. I'd say its Ideal for somebody who needs very light coverage, or it could even be used as a concealer, but for us ladies that prefere a full coverage or have any blemishes to cover, then I'd say give this foundation a miss.

A Tuesday shop...

Well today I took my mum shopping, I didn't actually intend on buying anything for myself, just wanted to pick up a few bits for the kids, but you know how it goes.. there's always something that catches the eye.. hehe. I was good though and only bought a few small things, here's what I got:

  • Neutrogena Pureglow Daily Cleansing Cushions.
  • Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser.
  • No.7 Metallic Eye Pencil.
  • No.7 Amazing Eyes Pencil.
  • Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation.

Neutrogena Pureglow Daily Cleansing Cushions - I purchased these while walking round Home Bargains with my mum ha. They claim to "Reveal a fresh, spa quality glow every time you cleanse. Experience the essential benefits of a facial at your fingertips-- deep cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and massage. Clinically proven to give your skin the same results as a professional facial" so as they was only £1.99 I thought might aswel give them a try. I love to give my face a good clean after taking my make up off. I never feel satisfied with just using 3 in 1 facial wipes for example, my face never feels clean enough afterwards, so I normal massage my face with a hot flannel too.
Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser: Ive been hearing a lot of good things about this moisturiser lately. I'm constantly searching for my HG moisturiser, and have tried countless of different ones, from luxury brands to drugstore brands, so hopefully maybe this time I might have found it, and all for under £4!.
No.7 Metallic Eye Pencil: Well while looking to purchase a normal black eyeliner, I spotted the metallic range. The gold one just looked so gorgeous, that I had to have it! hehe. I love No.7 products and have never had cause to complain.
No.7 Amazing Eyes Pencil: As already stated I needed a black eyeliner and No.7's eyeliner have always been a good buy to me. Cheap and Cheerful (£7) and good quality.
Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation: I've never actually tried Max Factor foundation. Its always reminded me of products that older women use, as I always remember my mum using Max Factor Pan Stick when I was younger ha. However I've been using the Max Factor Miracle Touch Concealer for a while now, and I'm really pleased with the coverage, so today my instincts kicked in and just made me buy the foundation. Ive read a few good reviews on it too, so hopefully I might like it, if not I'm sure my mum will take it off my hands haha.
