Around 2 weeks ago I purchased Soap & Glorys The Fab Pore. This was my first Soap and Glory product along with the Super Eyes Eye Gel which I purchased at the same time, so I really had no idea what to expect. Although I had read quite a few good reviews for the Fab Pore, I had to bear in mind that what works for one person might not work for another.
First off I have no idea why its called a Facial Peel because to me that gives the impression that its one of them face mask what you peel off yourself, when really its nothing at all like that. As you can see by the pic below, its actually a thick cream like kind of substance, which smells minty kinda like toothpaste ha and its filled with little green beads. The texture is really nice and it spreads so easily. You don't need a great amount because of how spreadable it is, a little really does go a long way.
What are are them green beads exactly? well to be honest I have no idea ha. The instructions on the box say to rub the mask into the skin until the beads have fully disappeared. Which isn't a problem, they disappear really easily, no harsh rubbing is needed. The box also states to either leave the mask on for 5 minutes for a quick type of facial or for 15 minutes for a more intense one. Ive always left mine on for 15 minutes as I cannot see how a quick 5 minutes would do anything. Once on the skin it doesn't harder and go tight on your face like some other masks do, infact I once forgot I even had it on and left it on for 45 minutes haha.
So what exactly does it claim to do? Well it claims to unclog and tighten pores, mop up excess oil and smooth the skins surface, eventually helping to reduce the appearance of large pores and make them less noticeable. The main ingredients (taken from boots website) are:
■FOMES OFFICINALIS EXTRACT: A mushroom extract to tighten pores.
■SALICYLIC ACID: which loosens up the dead cells that contribute to pore clogging.
■KAOLIN: That’s ‘cosmetic’ for clay. It sops up extra oil on your skin and smoothes your skin’s surface!
■VITAMINS E & C: Antioxidants. Just because you’re oily, doesn’t mean you’re not aging.
So whats my verdict? Well Ive used this approximately 4 times up to now and I can honestly say I can see an improvement in my skin. I'm not going to say my pores have totally disappeared, because we all know that can't happen, the damage has already been done and they are there to stay, but I will say.. they do seem a lot tighter, not so noticeable, especially the ones around my nose and on my firehead. This is probably because I seem to focus more on these parts when using the mask. It gives the skin a really nice smooth look and feel after using it and gives it a light exfoliation. This is a product that needs to be used regularly though as it doesn't have any long term benefits, to see the benefits it does need to be used 2-3 times a week, as if only used maybe once a week.. which I did the first week... my pores were back to normal after 3 days or so, so it does need continuous use. This doesn't bother me as I like to use a mask and exfoliate a couple of times a week anyway, so this does both jobs for me at once.
Will I re-purchase? Definitely. Not only does it makes my face feel so clean and fresh afterwards, like a normal mask would, it also exfoliates at the same time... plus helps to minimise the appearance of my pores. So for me to benefit in different ways from one products is something I'm really happy with. Plus for only £5.88 from boots, I'm getting a 3 way product for such a cheap price and as I don't have to use a great amount, I can see the tub lasting me at least 2 months.
So have you tried the Fab Pore Facial Peel? Let me know what you ladies think.
