Valentines Day. What does it mean to you? Do you have any plans?

So tomorrow its February the 14th, which can only mean one thing.... Valentines day! The day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering chocolates, and sending greeting cards.

So how do you Ladies feel about Valentines day? do you just see it as another gimmick aimed at making us spend more money? or is it a special day to you? the one day you and your partner spend quality time together and show each other how you love each other?

For me, Valentines day has never really been a big deal. I'm not one for wanting presents, I don't think Gareth has to go out and spend money to show me he loves me, although I do like a card. To me a card is everything and the most important thing about any occasion, such as Valentines, Christmas, Birthdays etc. Its what's written inside, what a person has wrote themselves that makes it so special.

We never really go out anywhere on Valentines night. To us its no different from any other night we spend together, every night we spend together is special. We love nothing more than snuggling up in bed and watching a good DVD together and that will most probably be what were doing tomorrow night.

What are your plans for tomorrow night?

  2. I'm totally one of those people who thinks valentines day is a hallmark holiday. People in love don't need a special day to do something special they can do that any day but companies certainly like the big rise in profits around this time :/ how cynical am I haha. xx

  3. I dunno what we're doing (we cancelled an overpriced restaurant) but I know he has something up his sleeve, he's been acting funny. I've got a couple of surpises for him too.

V Day is commercialism at its very best but I really don't mind it either way. Yes, your OH shouldn't be showing his affections JUST on V day but there's no harm going out of your way to show how much you care.

Even when I've been single, I've never been one to get all huffy over V Day - whatever, live and let live. It's only for one day. If you don't like it, it'll be over soon.

  4. I abit mixed about V.day! I think its over priced and the whole lovey dovey thing doesn't really play well with me. At the same time, I always think its nice to get a pressie & I love cards from him too. I won't be seeing him 2moro, as he's at Uni and I'm going out 2night so can't be doing with going up there just for a day.
I think it's just important to show your love every single day of the year, and not just valentines day because Hallmark says so.
    Great post :)

  5. For this valentine's day, its also Chinese New Year day which meant that its extra special for me this year where I get to celebrate 2 festivals at a go.

I do feel that Valentine's day is also a day where you've got the reason to shop and splurge on pressies and receive gifts too. I usually cook a nice meal at home though.

  6. My husband and I show our love for each other every day not just on Valentines Day.

I will be making my husband a nice Valentines breakfast and then we'll probably spend the day snuggling on the sofa with hot chocolate and DVDs.

  7. I think a valentines day card is what I want ONLY. I'm sort of like you, i dont really care about expensive presents and all of that because that does not show that my bf loves me =). I love cuddling up with my bf and just talking with him! Thats exactly what we're gonna do tmrw =), nothing really special but at least it means something to both of us =). X

  8. I'm not that fussed - I'd be happy staying in with a takeaway, but we do that quite a bit so we decided to venture into town for a meal and then see if there's anything happening in Chinatown as it's Chinese New Year.

I've got him a little "token" pressie and I think he's done the same.

  9. i hate valentines day. and i'm not even single lol. my boyfriend and i are going out for a nice dinner, but we do that any day. i think its ridiculous for him to buy me presents or flowers, its unnecessary. it would mean a lot more to me if he get me something out of the blue on any other day "just because"

  10. Making dinner with friends for tomorrow dinner! Valentines' is somewhat overrated, but in the previous relationships, a simple card to know that the guy remembered would do - usually the 'just because' gifts made up for everything (as previous poster said! =)
