After finally purchasing the original Garnier Eye Roll on and being quite impressed with how it soothed my puffy eyes in the morning, I was actually quite excited when Garnier released the Tinted Eye Roll. It contains the same ingredients as the original roll one, apart from it contains mineral pigments which is supposed to instantly cover dark circles. Hmmmm.... "De-puffing and concealing all at once" I thought. Sounds good to me!
I was actually just on the verge of purchasing it when I was talking to my lovely friend Marcia on Twitter and she offered to send me hers as she just couldn't get on with it. So yeah... I was sent this product for free, not by a PR firm.. by Marcia. Ha.
I'm not going to go into too much detail as I'm fairly certain you would have read countless reviews of this product on other blogs. Basically I'm just going to tell you about my experience with this product.
First off I am fair skinned. When choosing a concealer the lightest shade is always near enough always a perfect shade match. So I had high hopes for this product as the shade Marcia sent me was number 1 for fair skin tones. I was wrong. The shade doesn't work well for me at all. It comes off rather yellowish to be honest.

I also found the consistency to be really watery. It was just too thin. I don't like my under eye concealers to be think by any means, but I like them to be a bit creamy and give me good coverage as I have under eye circles that need to be covered basically. For me this just wasn't suitable in any way. I'll be sticking to the Original Roll On and using my own concealer.

Ah, that's a shame. I know that the yellow undereye stuff is supposed to counteract the blue-ness in dark circles under eyes (similar to using green on my chin to cover red blotches ewww). In theory it sounds good but it doesnt look so good! The colour matching looks a bit off!! You look like you are as pale as me! I find it hard to get things matched. Perhaps they will introduce more colours to suit more typs of skin tone? x
ReplyDeleteHi, I have tried this too and have a similiar experience to you. I found it very watery and it nowhere near covered my huge dark circles! I was very disappointed with it.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any recommendations for a good concealer for fair skin?
..i dont get the whole having a concealer type effect added to a skincare product i think its daft..i think i just love the sound of the rolling the thing under your eyes everymorn lol but mayb thats just me ha

wow thanks for the genuine review hun! I would not fancy a watery concealer too :S
ReplyDeleteYou can even tell from the photo how thin that is!! I've been thinking about trying th original version of this for ages as my eyes look terrible in the morning haha!!! xx
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting the original, but never got around to it. This new idea is definitely a smart idea, but I agree it looks too watery! Originals are always best anyway..

This is actually the first negative review I've read on the product, and I'm glad you're honest :) it looks watery and incredibly yellow just from the pictures, but other blogs had me wanting it!
ReplyDeleteI bought it and found it quite good!!
ReplyDeleteI usually use No 7 concealer which leaves my undereyes looking quite dry, where this leaves them looking better. I guess it isn't for everyone....
It is nice and cool on the eye!
I'm exactly the same as you babes. This stuff is too yellow for me and my undereye circles need a near industrial product rather than this watery shizzle. hehe

I've just bought this because its on offer at superdrug, and I've found it far too yellow toned for me too, I love the cooling feeling under your eyes though - I've never tried the original one so i think i'll go for that next time! xx
ReplyDeleteHehehh
ReplyDeleteii Thoughht its gonna bee a guud 'un cuzz ii tried the origanall and it was okay.. but the dark circles were a problem unsolbed..
So. I got this.. God what a mistakes lols xo
I just bought some this week and I love it. I prefer the thinner consistency of the concealer as I find the others too thick and heavy for the under eye are and always seem to accentuate lines. It really works for me. I also tried the original formula and found it cooling and refreshing but really didn't cover the dark circles enough.
