Maybelline 24 Hour Super Stay Foundation.

Im quite a big fan of Maybellines Satin Finish foundation, so when they released a new foundation, 24 Hour Super Stay, I was quite excited to give it a try to see what it was like. Its recived quite a few good reviews with fellow bloggers, which also made me more eager to try it. Unfortunately though my review isn't that good.

When I first purchased this, I ended up buying the wrong shade. I went for Ivory as Ivory in Satin Finish is a good match for me, sadly though Ivory is 24 Hour Super Stay was well to dark, so I ended up picking up another shade in Light Beige.

Maybelline say: "SuperStay™ 24HR Makeup stays comfortable and looks naturally flawless all day. Micro-Flex formula provides 24-hour wear and No Transfer. Withstands heat, sweat and humidity. Oil-free, dermatologist tested, fragrance-free. Suitable for all skin types".

Upon application the first thing I noticed is that it is very similar in texture to Revlon Colourstay (which I love for full coverage) however this is a lot more harder to blend and I also found that its really thick, a lot thicker than Colourstay and it literally clung to every little dry patch that was apparent on my face. I have normal combination skin and my skin is not overly dry, Its definitely not dry where it is noticable with any other foundation that I use, but with this I get the impression that for the whole flawless look, you would have to have near perfect skin, which unfortunately I don't have. Unlike Colourstay I wouldn't say it was buildable, if not careful, it will give the whole cakey look to your skin. It dries to a matte finish and made my complexion look very dull. I was even scared to add my powder afterwards, because I knew it would cake. With regards to staying power, it did last on me a good 8 hours, so they are spot on with the claim about staying power.

Would I recommend? If you have normal combination skin, oily around the tzone but dry in places too then I would give this a miss. I can imagine it would work well for really oily skin though as be much easier to blend etc. I'll be sticking with Revlon Colourstay for full coverage foundation.

  3. Hi Jo :)
I bought this a while back and hated it! Both times it seemed hard to blend, on the skin it looks like you're wearing foundation, yet by the end of the day it magically disappeared! Another one I gave to my Mum for her to try! Oh, and I also found the colours didnt match any others Im used to x

  6. I was sent a free sample of this and absolutely love it. I don't usually wear foundation during the day as I hate the greasy feel and skin shine (I don't have oily skin btw), but this went on lovely, totally covered my black eye circles, and stayed matte. I'm going out at the weekend to buy a whole bottle.

  7. I've found totally the opposite - I too love Revelon Colourstay but found Maybelline 24hr much lighter and easier to apply than Revlon!
It really does stick on all day. I have combination skin, oily just on the T-Zone and this is perfect for me!
I would definately recommend. I apply a light powder over the top too, this just evens everything out and keeps my skin matte.

  8. I love this foundation, its so good on my skin and it covers up everything:D but.. the only problem is it don't actually stay on for twenty four hours:L mine lasts to 5 hours, i have to top it up like every hour or two because it comes of quite easily:L.. but i still love this foundation.
