Well I never thought I would like Matte Nails...

But I sure as hell do! I picked up the No.7 Stay Perfect Matt Top Coat yesterday and couldn't wait to give it a try. I really wasn't expecting to like the finished look, but I really am impressed. I think it looks gorgeous! I applied the Matte Top Coat onto Ruby & Milles Nail Polish, a gorgeous grey/purple shade. (I cannot seem to find a shade name on the polish)

The polish without the Matte Top Coat.

This is actually my first Ruby & Millie Nail Polish and to be honest my pictures do not do it justice. It fails to pick up the gorgeous shimmer that runs throughout it.

Purchasing a Matte Top Coat is one of the best purchases I have made. I cannot wait to dig out some neglected polishes and have fun creating a whole new look.

What do you think of Matte nails?

Clarins Extra Firming Foundation SPF 15

Clarins is a brand that I don't see spoke about often within the beauty community. If I'm honest, its never been a brand that's interested me, until recently. For some reason I've always seen it as a brand for older women. God knows why. Maybe because my nan used to use a lot of their products. As I'm getting older and more conscious of my skin, I tend to look to make up products now, that offer me some sort of benefits with regards to aging. Hence my new love for Clarins Extra Firming Foundation.

"A spectacular smoothing effect and instant beauty-enhancing result. Wrinkles and fine lines are minimized and the face is incredibly radiant. Perfectly smoothed and even, the complexion has a fresh, youthful radiance, even close up. Day after day, facial features are visibly reshaped and the skin is firmer. A profession formula with visible results".

I have been using this foundation constantly now for over a week and it is one of the best full cover foundations I have come across. It applies lightly and smoothly and has gorgeous creamy texture which feels really luxurious to use. It blends with ease, and its dries to a gorgeous satin finish. I adore the finish this foundation gives me, it instantly makes my skin look smoother and more radiant without looking like I have applied foundation to achieve the results. I always apply my foundation around my eye area  and normally do need to apply under eye concealer too, but I can honestly get away with no concealer when using this product. I do add a tiny bit though, as I just feel my face isn't complete without it. I also find it keeps my skin nice and hydrated throughout the day and my cheeks don't end up looking dry, which they sometimes can with a higher coverage foundation. It lasts incredibly well on my oily t zone, and is still in place once the days over. This foundation will definitely get a lot of use from me in the winter months, which are vastly approaching. The packaging of the product is also a winner. It has a very sophisticated look to it, with its frosted glass bottle and gold lid. It also has a pump applicator, which is always a bonus with foundation. Take note Revlon Colourstay!

The foundation in action.

Swatch Clarins Extra Firming Foundation shade 103 Ivory.

I can honestly say now I am a Clarins convert and plan to explore the brand a lot more. I'm currently using another of their products which is the Instant Light Brush On Perfector which is amazing! I will have a full review up of that soon.

Clarins Extra Firming Foundation is priced at £26.00 and be bought directly from the Clarins website or Boots, debenhams etc.

A good place I would recommend for purchasing Clarins products though is Escentual.com (not an affiliate link) who currently have 22% off Clarins products.

This is why I hardly do FOTD posts.

Because I have to take the pic myself in the mirror, in a room with hardly any lighting and I never have a steady hand when it comes to taking pics. Jo... you fail at FOTD!

Scrubalicious! - amaZene Cocoa & Copaiba Body Scrub

I just cannot get enough of amaZene Body Care products. I have previously raved about them in a previous post and I'm back again to rave about the latest product to be added to my bathroom shelf. amaZene Cocoa & Copaiba Body Scrub.

"Both cocoa and copaiba trees grow wild throughout the tropical rain forests of South America. Together, the seed extracts have powerful emollient and soothing properties which help to improve the skins elasticity.
These incredible exfoliating scrubs will stimulate the whole body. Gently massage into the skin as part of your beauty routine to leave you feeling rejuvenated and looking radiant"

This product is by far the best body scrub I have come across to date. When using a body scrub, I like to feel it scrubbing my skin, I like to know its doing what its supposed to do and removing all traces of dead skin. Although I tend to not like Body Scrubs that come in a tub, the results from this are so worth it. I can feel it working and enjoy the scrubbing sensation is has on my skin. After use my skin is instantly softer and not to mention smelling gorgeous. The scent of this product reminds me a lot of hot chocolate, so instead of smelling good enough to eat, I smell good enough to drink!

The scrub is packed with Organic ingredients such as Açai which contains extremely high levels of antioxidants which can help to combat the effects of premature ageing by regenerating the skin. Babaçu, an oil which is used for its superior emollient properties and works well on all skin types to soften without leaving an oily sheen. Cocoa, the extract from the seeds of Cacao trees, which has excellent emollient and soothing properties which help to improve the skin’s elasticity. Cupuaçu, the seeds from the Cupuaçu tree possess excellent emollient qualities and also helps the skin to recover its natural moisture and elasticity and Copaiba from Copaiba trees which is an essential oil with powerful emollient properties and is a key ingredient in the Cocoa & Copaiba range.

I honestly cannot rate amaZene products highly enough, especially the body scrub. Although the scrub is not relatively cheap (£11.95) the tub is huge! so it will definitely last me a while as only a small amount is needed to really scrub up the skin.

Available online from the amaZene website.

Stuck on what to buy with your Boots/No.7 Voucher?

Fear not Ladies, because I have a product to recommend. No7 Quick Cover Blemish Stick (£7.50).

"It's a cover up! You can use this high performance non-pore blocking concealer to hide everything from blemishes and age spots to uneven skin tone".

I really cannot rate this concealer enough. With four shades to choose from, there is sure to be a match for most skin tones. The shade light matches my skin tone perfectly and covers up any blemishes with ease. Only a tiny amount is needed as the creamy light texture blends incredibly well. It lasts all day long, under or over foundation and doesn't end up resulting in that flaky look that some stick concealers can leave. I find it to be very build-able but to be honest I find myself only needed a small amount before my foundation to help with my blemishes. Its also hypo-allergenic and fragrance free, so suitable to those with sensitive skin. I apply mine directly onto my skin and then blend it in gently with my finger.

The pictures below show the worst part of my skin and how easily just a tiny amount of No7 Quick Cover Blemish Stick can help my complexion look a lot better. Bear in mind this is without adding any foundation.

Before - (try not to barf)

After -

Considering I payed no special attention the the big spot that's currently been living on my cheek for a while and refuses to move home, I think it does a damn good job at concealing. I could have easily layered a bit more of the product on, but I wanted to show you how effective it is, with literally just one swipe of the concealer on my cheek then blended. Once foundation is applied over the top, my skin does indeed look blemish free. The only people I wouldn't recommend this product to, is people with dry skin. I think stick concealers don't work well on dry skin and do nothing more but flake and emphasise the dryness. In my opinion liquid concealers are better for those with dry skin.

Best thing about this product? The £2.50 price tag when bought with a Boots/No.7 Voucher. Oh how I love a bargain!

The red of all reds...

Lord & Berry Vogue Matte Velvet Lipstick in Red.

I want to be brave, I want to do something different from my normal make up, where the focus is normally on my eyes with a nude lip. I want to try the whole sophisticated red lips look and this is the Lipstick that I'm going to do it with. Its soft, its creamy and its sexy.

Apparently the way to wear red, is to go light on the eyes and cheeks, otherwise the end result will be one resembling a clown.

Cue Cameron Diaz at the 2007 Golden globes.

Not good right? Something along these lines is what I'm aiming for..

So Ladies any tips for me when it comes to wearing red lipstick? is red a colour you frequently wear on your lips? let me know!

Now this I like! This polish just screams Autumn at me. The perfect Khaki Green with slight hidden shimmer. I have nothing at all like this in my stash. This is one polish that is definitely going to be on my nails a hell of a lot throughout Autumn.

Its simply love.

Looking back.

At the beginning of this year I posted 10 products that I would like to try in 2010. So I thought I would do an updated post to let you all know if I managed to try any of the products listed.

1. Origins Starting Over anti-aging Moisturiser

It took me long enough, but I am currently using this moisturiser at the moment and a full review will be coming soon.

2. Boots No.7 Time Resisting Day & Night Eye Care

I purchased this months ago and published a full review. I was fairly happy with the product and ended up using all of the gel, but not using the cream.

3. YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick

Since the beginning of the year, Ive purchased two Rouge Voluptes. One of which I ended up selling on a blog sale, as I just didn't reach for it often. I love the formula of these Lipstick and I do think they are well worth the £21 price tag.

4. Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb Extreme

Sadly this hasn't made it into my purchase collection yet. I adore the original though, so I'm still longing to try the extreme.

5. Korres Make Up

Ive tried quite a few Korres products still still don't have any Korres make up in my collection.

6. Lush products.

Back in January I was a Lush virgin, well that has well and truly changed! used quite a few Lush product to date.

7. China Glaze Nail Polish

I now have quite a few bottle of China Glaze in my Nail Polish stash.

8. MAC Well Dressed Blush

I read so many fantastic reviews on this product and when I eventually purchased it I did like it. I soon got bored though and sold it on a blog sale.

9. Inglot Cosmetics.

Ive still not manged to get my hands on anymore Iglot make up. Still loving the Lipsticks I have though.

10. No 10 wasn't a product, it was something I wanted to get back into, which was the gym.

Still not joined again though. Pull your finger out Joanne!

So there we have it. I did actually manage to purchase most products I wanted, but I'm a big fat fail on the gym front!
