Current Cleansers

I think its time to admit that I have a serious cleanser addiction. I must have about 8+ in my bathroom at the moment all of which I use on rotation, depending on how my skin is.

I've shared my thoughts on quite a few of them already, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on some of the newest ones that have been added to my bathroom shelf.

Skin Doctors Accelerating Cleanser £12.50 for 100ml

This is the cleanser Ive been using for my morning routine (If Im not being lazy and grabbing a face wipe or some cleansing water).

Its gentle enough to use every day and has been specifically designed to prepare the skin before you apply any other products. It claims to remove dead cells and unclogs pores so your cosmeceuticals (serums, moisturisers etc) can penetrate better and the absorbing capacity of your skin is improved. Its also said to help with acne scarring and help in reducing blemishes.

This is so nice to use, it has a gorgeous scent to it and is really soft and creamy when applied. It contains Lactic acid which give the skin a really gentle exfoliation and Alpha hydroxyl acids which removes all the dead skin cells that build up, resulting in the skin to have that dull look about it and what also causes moisturisers etc to work less effectively as they cannot penetrate the skin as much.

When used of a morning, my skin just seems to perk up and has a really natural looking radiance about it, like its had a really good cleanse and all the dead skin, dirt and grime from overnight have all been scrubbed away to reveal soft and supple fresh skin. Im really enjoying using this cleanser.

Elemis Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser £26.00 for 100ml

This was part of an Elemis gift set, so I only have a small 30ml bottle.

Out of all the cleansers I have on go at the moment, this is the one Ive been reaching for most to remove my make up. I apply it to warm damp hands first and then rub it into my skin to form a rich and warm lather. As soon as I start massaging it into my skin, it instantly starts breaking up my make up. I massage for a good minute or so to make sure my skin is benefiting from the fantastic ingredients, then using a hot muslin cloth I polish my skin to melt away and remove every last trace of make up and grime.

It is very rich and thick, so Im not sure how people with very sensitive skin would get on with it, but for me it works a dream. Afterwards my skin feels so silky smooth and looks bright and radiant. Its definitely a luxurious cleanser and worth every penny.

Organic Surge Gentle Cleanser £4.99 for 200ml

This is a different cleanser from what Im used to. I normally like a cleanser which I can add water with, as I just don't seem to feel free from all the make up and gunk on my face everything on my face if water isn't used. However its always nice to give something different a try.

It claims to "Cleanse, comfort and hydrate with skin loving ingredients"

Basically this is like a cold cleanser. You apply it straight to dry skin like most cleansers, massage in and remove with cotton wool pads or a muslin cloth. I choose to use cotton wool pads when using this.

After reading the instructions on the bottle, I was a bit dissapointed as it says its not for use on the eyes. I do like my cleansers to be an one in one job and get everything removed at once, but I don't mind too much about adding an extra step, if Ive got a good eye make up remover on hand.

I've got mixed feelings about this cleanser. I really like applying it to my face and massaging it in, however If Im wearing one of my heavier foundations I need to use a hell of a lot of cotton wool pads to make sure my skin is thoroughly clean. I actually like to use the Organic Surge face Wash after using the cleanser, just for that extra clean and so I can use a muslin cloth. The two products work perfect together. My skin is left feeling soft and moisturised.

For people who wear minimal make up or for myself when Im having light make up days, its a really nice cleanser to use on its own, to remove make up and leave skin clean and fresh.

Nude Cleansing Oil £22.00 for 100ml

After recently trying my first oil cleanser and being really pleased with it, I decided to add another to my collection. Ive read some mixed reviews on Nude's oil cleanser, so I didn't really know what to expect. A few reviews stated that it was not good for people with blemish prone skin as it doesn't clean the pores effectively enough, while other reviews stated how fantastic the product is at removing make up and grime and leave the skin thoroughly clean. I consider my skin as being in a league of its own to be honest, it does what it wants when it feels like it. I can be blemish free for months, then suddenly the spots start appearing. I do suffer with an oily tzone and can be prone to dry cheeks, but only if my skins not fed properly. I decided to not let the negative reviews of the product steer me away, as like I said, my skin is totally different to anyone elses (or so I think anyway) so what works for one person might not work for another or vice versa.

The oil itself has a really nice scent to it and massages into my skin really well. One water is added to it, by way of a muslin cloth it emulsifies to a milky liquid. It removes all my make up with complete ease, even my heavy eye make up. After rinsing my face I am sometimes left with a slight oily feel on my skin, this doesn't bother me too much, as I just grab a nice face wash for a double cleanse.

It doesn't leave my skin feeling tight after use and It doesn't dry my skin out if used on a number of consecutive days, which some cleanser do if I use them constantly. I like to swap and change.

Overall its a really nice cleanser and has some nice ingredients to boot. The only slight problem I have is that sometimes I do have to wash my face with a facial wash afterwards as it can leave me a bit oily, which can be a bit of a pain if Im knackered and just want to jump into bed.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash£4.59 for 200ml

This is a really new addition, which I literally bought a couple of days ago. I picked this up as Im suffering with a hormonal breakout at the moment. It claims to help eliminate spots and blackheads with an uplifting clean feel. Ive only actually used this twice so far so I can't really form too much of an opinion, but one thing is for certain, it smells divine! It doesn't seem to strip my skin and leaving tight and it really does make my skin feel so fresh and clean after using it.

I can see this being a permanent fixture.

What cleanser are you currently using? have you tried any of the above cleansers? would you like to?

Loved this post - so helpful as I'm trying to get into using cleansers and esp organic ones!

Love the sound of the Organic Surge one as I don't tend to wear too much makeup so I'm sure I'd be ok..plus I like to be lazy and sit in bed and remove my makeup without going to the bathroom! haha
So with this and my Botanics eye makeup remover I will be set!

The skin doctors cleanser dounds like a dream. *makes note to purchase*

I'm with you on the Nude cleansing oil. Sometimes I feel my skin feels okay after cleansing, and sometimes it would have an oily residue. A great cleanser though. I actually stocked up on these during the sale, they were around £10. Bargain!
