Unfortunately though, we didn't get on. I used it the once, found it stung my eyes and left it unloved on the bathroom shelf, only to bin it a few months later while having a clear out.
As time went on, more and more brands started to release Micellar Waters, so I found myself trying new ones constantly and I never gave Bioderma a second thought - until recently.
Whenever Im reading a feature on the web about Micallar waters, Bioderma is nearly always mentioned and is definitely rated as one of the best on the market. With that being said, I decided I was a bit harsh to judge it last time - especially after just one use - so I decided to give it another try and I'm so glad I did.
I genuinely now believe that I must have just been having a bad eye day the last time I used it (my eyes can be quite sensitive at times and I am a contact lens wearer too, so bad eye days are not uncommon) because this time around I have felt no irritation at all. The last time I used it, I also remember thinking that it wasn't good at tackling heavy eye makeup, I was a cleansing water novice then though and have since learnt that the secret is to hold the cotton pad on my eyes for a good few seconds, before attempting to wipe away eye makeup. Some cleansing waters I've tried can still struggle with heavy eye makeup though, where as Bioderma removes it instantly. I don't even need to go over my eyes again, when doing my second cleanse. It really does remove everything, not only on my eyes but on my face too. I would still never cleanse in the evenings with just Micellar Water alone, but if for some reason I had to, I could go to bed confident enough that all my make up had been removed.
I can now fully understand why Bioderma is raved about so much, and I doubt I'll ever be without a bottle in the future. There's still quite a few Micellar Waters that I haven't tried yet, but right now, Bioderma is definitely in first place.
I'd love to know what Micellar Waters you rate or hate, so feel free to leave me a comment below.
